BIO

JaQuanne LeRoy is a painter, visual artist and teaching artist born and raised in Wilmington, DE. Whether acrylic on canvas, murals, curation, or graphic design, JaQuanne's art explores themes of self reflection, spiritual growth, and human relationships. His style tends toward abstract surrealism utilizing bright and plentiful colors that reflect the depth of his subject matter. 

JaQuanne's work has been featured in both solo and group exhibitions for the Delaware Contemporary, Grand Opera House, and Delaware Children’s Museum. Most recently, he presented an anthology body of work in the Chris White Gallery in Wilmington. JaQuanne has also been commissed by the Delaware Children's Museum, The City of Wilmington, and Woodlawn Trustees for inspiring mural work across Wilmington. With a passion for helping others develop their artistic abilities and exposure, JaQuanne also curates art. Through his curation Plant Life in the City, JaQuanne engaged local artists of all mediums in the subject of environmental justice to enlighten citizens in Wilmington, Delaware to local environmental issues through art. In 2020, JaQuanne was the Teaching Artist and Curator in Residence for the Delaware Art Museum, Delaware College of Art and Design, and the Chris White Gallery. In this residency, he worked to bring local artists together and teach programming to youth. 

Other collaborations and organizations JaQuanne has worked with include The Delaware College of Art and Design, The Delaware Institute for Arts and Education, Delaware Nature Society, The Delaware Historic Society, Hilltop Lutheran Community Center, and Westside Grows Together. His work has been featured in the press, including 6 ABC Philadelphia, Out & About Magazine, and more. JaQuanne began painting in 2015 while studying advertising design at Delaware Technical and Community College in Dover, DE.
